Sant'Eligio Hotel Relais

After being abandoned for one century, the post office is revived thanks to a hotel which is the buttonhole of the accommodation in Ostuni. This territory is rich in historic centres, archaeological sites, fortified country houses, naturalistic areas, underground oil mills. The “road of oil” crosses the towns of Ostuni, Carovigno and Cisternino. Aragonese towers and fortified buildings, constructed for defensive reasons in an area that was particularly exposed to invasions, are some interesting sites to be discovered. The itinerary of the masserie (the typical local farms) is a fabulous experience: this territory must be covered zigzagging from the sea to the inland to discover a mild and sunny land and a plentiful nature that combines the scent of the sea with that of the countryside. Not far from here, some unique sites can be visited: Lecce and its baroque, Alberobello and the typical “trulli”, Castel del Monte of Friedrich II, the excavations of Egnatia, Martina Franca and Valle d'Itria, Torre Guaceto nature oasis and Fasano safari park.

Location

Placed at the foot of the historic centre and close to the old defensive walls, this hotel is wrapped in the magic atmosphere of the old village, in the greenness of more than a million olive trees (the oldest in the Mediterranean sea), in the different shades of blue of the sky and the sea and in the brightness of Apulia, blazing like gold.
