Until September 5, 2010, the seventh edition of the "Settimana della Cultura Salentina ed Euromediterranea" will take place in Lecce, in the ex Convent of the Teatini. This is an important event that includes numerous initiatives on the same theme : the Salentino and its cultural traditions.
This year, an interesting new event will be the giving of 4 awards dedicated to those who contributed to the diffusion of the image and the culture of the Salento in Italy and across the world.
The "Sallentino doc" recognizes the honorary citizenship of the Terra d'Otranto; the "Terra d'Otranto" award will be given to the local administrators that got really involved in the territorial promotion or in the human resources; the "Ernesto Alvino" award will be dedicated to the journalists who realized a strong promotion of the Salento and its characteristics, and the "Gino Rizzo" award will be awarded to the students of the University of Salento.
