Castellana Grotte (Apulia) - Italy
Until August 31, 2010, the "SpeleoNight" and the Osservazione dello Spazio e dei Pianeti are coming back to Castellana Grotte, province of Bari.
The famous caves of Castellana will be open at night during August and nocturnal visits will be organized from 09.45pm onwards. Tourists will be able to admire the amazing caves of Castellana, equipped with light helmet and guided by the expert speleologists from the Puglia Grotte group.
Besides, each Tuesday and Friday, from 10pm onwards, for the space enthusiasts, the Sirio Astronomical Observatory (within the Museo Speleologico delle Grotte di Castellana) will be open and it will be possible to admire the main planets of the solar system thanks to a telescope.
The visits to the caves plan two different itineraries : one of about 1 km until the Caverna del Precipizio (50 mn) and the other of about 3 km until the Grotta Bianca (2 hours).
The visit to the caves costs €20.
The entrance to the Sirio Astronomical Observatory costs €5 (adults) or €3 (children between 6 and 14)
