Galatina (Apulia) - Italy

Until August 29, 2010, an exhibition of Valentina D'Andrea, prepared by Ed Testa and entitled "Morsi e rimorsi. I morsi della terra e i rimorsi del cielo" will be visible within the Spazio D'Enghien of Galatina, in the province of Lecce.
The exhibition represents a travel towards the Salentine traditions.
In particular, it concerns the famous rite of the cure of the tarantula bite, which is only possible thanks to a kind of musical exorcism, based on dancings, colors and musics.
The exhibition will also remain San Paolo, who, during a travel to Judea, was surrounded with snakes, but succeeded in keeping them off.
So San Paolo is linked to the « tarantismo » rites as the women « bitten » by the venom of the poisonous tarantula went to the San Paolo Chapel where they drank the holy water from the close well and repeated a short rite.
