From April 13 to 18, 2010, the eleventh edition of the Festical of European Cinema will take place within the Cityplex of Lecce.
Amongst the guests of the festival, which is organized by the Associazione Culturale "Art Promotion", are : Carlo Verdone, Christian De Sica, Isabella Ragonese, Violante Placido, Cristiana Capotondi, Nicoletta Romanoff, Claudia Gerini, Sauro e Anna Falchi, Nicola Nocella, Leon Cino, Filippo Nigro, Michele Riondino and Maya Sansa.
Directed by Cristina Soldano and Alberto La Monica, the manifestation is composed by an official competition of European full-lenght films, in worldwide preview, and by some specials sections.
Concerning the “Concorso di lungometraggi europei”, 10 films coming from all Europa will be showed in national preview. An international jury will be present as well as the Fipresci Jury, who have to give the Fipresci Award.
A section entitled « I Protagonisti del Cinema Europeo" will be dedicated to Yilmaz Güney, a Turkish director exiled in France, who died in 1984.
Another section, entitled "I Protagonisti del Cinema Italiano", which each year pays tribute to one of the most important person of the Italian cinema, will be given to Carlo Verdone.
A festival of his most important films as well as a photographic exhibition will be organized within the ex Convento dei Teatini.
Amongst all the festival previews, one has to be pointed out : « Shadow », the second film of Federico Zampaglione, singer of the Tiromancino and a recent director.
A new event of the 2010 edition is the "Premio Mario Verdone", in honor of the critic who discovered a lot of new talents, which will be given to an author of the Italian panorama particularly visible this year.
