Andria (Apulia) - Italy
In Andria (Bat), the period of Easter is marked by two religious suggestive moments, which happen on March 26 and April 2, at 07pm.
On the Friday before Palm Sunday (March 26), the procession of the Desolata, during which the Virgin Mary Statue is brought from the S. Francesco d'Assisi Church to the San Sebastiano Church (or del Purgatorio), takes place within the city.
On Saint Friday (April 2), the Way of the Cross and the Procession dei Misteri will cross the city from the Purgatorio Church. 20 crosses and various statues of the XVIIIth century will be taken on procession to represent the Passion. The Sacra Spina relic, which is kept within the cathedral, will also be brought within the streets of Andria.
