From January 17 to February 21, 2010 occurs the Massafra Carnival, situated in the province of Taranto. It is one of the most living and important carnival of Puglia.

Unlike other carnivals where the parades occur within the fences, in Massafra, inhabitants and visitors can directly participate to the masked parades, parading in the streets with the floats and other allegorical groups.
The program is composed by concerts, competitions, exhibitions end parades.
The Massafra Carnival begun, as according to the ancient tradition, on January 17, with the celebrations of Sant'Antonio Abate.
By the past, during these days, workmen and housewives brought the cattle to the traditional ceremony which blessed the animals within the ancient church of Sant'Antonio Abate.
