The master-works of the Mazzolini collection displayed in Brindisi

On October 24, 2009 was inaugurated the exhibition "L'eredità del Novecento. I capolavori della Collezione Mazzolini", which will be visible until January 24, 2010, within the Palace Granafei Nervegna situated in Brindisi.
The exhibition, supported by the town of Brindisi and by the diocese of Piacenza-Bobbia, covers the most significant steps of the storia dell'arte italiana of the XXth century, from the metaphysic to the XXth century, from the abstract art to the existential realism; through the works of different major artists of the era.
The works come from the Mazzolini collection, that were collected by the Milanese doctor Giovanni Battista Ettore Simonetti, and by Domenica Rosa Mazzolini, after his death.
It contains more than 900 paintings, drawings and sculptures.
Not only are presented some major artists such as Giorgio De Chirico, Mario Sironi o Carlo Carrà, but also emergent artists suchas Arnaldo and Giò Pomodoro, Lucio Fontana, Enrico Bay, Arturo Tosi, Giuseppe Capogrossi, Hans Arp, Piero Manzoni, Emilio Scanavino, Bruno Cassinari, Renato Birolli, Ennio Morlotti, Ercole Pignatelli, Mino Maccari.
The visitor is guided in the exposition by letters and interviews of the artists and collectors, which helps at understanding the exhibition.
The exhibition is free and can be visible every day from 09.00am to 13.00pm and from 16.00pm to 20.00pm, except on Saturdays and Sundays : 10.00am-13.00pm and 17.00pm-20.00pm.
