Until September 12, 2010, the "Novoli Summer Fest 2010" will be organized in Novoli, in the province of Lecce.
Among the Piazza Schipa, the Communal Theater situated Piazza Regina Margherita and the Saletta della Cultura "Gregorio Vetrugno" of Via Matilde, it will be celebration to say goodbye to Summer with music, cabaret, culture, sports, dancings and debates.
The 2010 program is rich and diversified to entertain an audience from any age.
The manifestation is organized by the Assessorato allo Sport del Comune of Novoli in collaboration with various associations of the city: Proloco Novoli, Centro Sportivo "Madonna del Pane", Associazione Culturale "Campus Giovani" e Ilvillaggioweb.it.
Cinema > Casarano > Until September 12 > The Salento International Film Festival

Until September 12, 2010, the seventh edition of the Salento International Film Festival, which is a festival about Italian and foreign independent cinema, will take place in Casarano, province of Lecce.
The place of the festival, which will be a trip to India, Mexico, France and America, is the Manzoni cinema theater.
Other collateral events will also be organized to celebrate the American and French music, Indian dancings, as well as other initiatives to promote devious shows or the international cooking.
The events are freely open to the audience while seats last.

Theater > Andria > Until 09/05/2010 > The “Castel dei Mondi” International Festival

Until September 5, the "Castel dei Mondi, La quattordicesima città" International Festival will take place in Andria, province of BAT. It is organized by the city in collaboration with the Regione Puglia, the Teatro Pubblico Pugliese and the Ministero dei Beni e delle Attività Culturali.
The Festival, which relies on the citizens' voluntary collaboration to develop the activities of organization, communication and promotion, lets an important space to the theater companies, which were recently born in the Andria zone, which will then be able to show their own creations.
Besides, the festival allows the visitors to discover or rediscover some sites, such as the Auditorium Vallisa of Bari or the Communal Theater of Ruvo di Puglia, situated outside Andria.
The Festival, which has an international vocation, will celebrate the 150th anniversary of Anton Chekhov's birth, with the presentation of a show, in national preview, inspired by the famous playwright.

Until September 5, 2010, the seventh edition of the "Settimana della Cultura Salentina ed Euromediterranea" will take place in Lecce, in the ex Convent of the Teatini. This is an important event that includes numerous initiatives on the same theme : the Salentino and its cultural traditions.
This year, an interesting new event will be the giving of 4 awards dedicated to those who contributed to the diffusion of the image and the culture of the Salento in Italy and across the world.
The "Sallentino doc" recognizes the honorary citizenship of the Terra d'Otranto; the "Terra d'Otranto" award will be given to the local administrators that got really involved in the territorial promotion or in the human resources; the "Ernesto Alvino" award will be dedicated to the journalists who realized a strong promotion of the Salento and its characteristics, and the "Gino Rizzo" award will be awarded to the students of the University of Salento.

Culture > Putignano > September 4 – 5, 2010 > “Improvvisarte” within the old center

On September 4 and 5, from 08pm onwards, the Trullando association in collaboration with the Pro Loco and UGL Creativi, will organize two days dedicated to art and arts and crafts in the old center of Putignano, the famous Carnival city of the province of Bari. The initiative is entitled "Improvvisarte" - artistic expressions illuminates the old center.
The initiative, supported by the city of Putignano, was born to create a reference point in the old center to promote artisans and artists.
It will also be possible to assist to various shows and to taste gastronomical delights.
The initiative will come back each 15 days. Next appointment will then take place on September 18 and 19.

On September 3, the city of Mola di Bari, province of Bari, will host the "Notte Bianca di Mola", organized by the "assessorati alla cultura e al turismo del Comune", in collaboration with the "Assessorato alla cultura della Provincia di Bari".
The 2010 edition will be a celebration of the city's talents. Between 07pm and midnight, 15 events will take place at the same time in order to transform Mola in a big stage where various talents of the city will perform.
The program includes live music, shows, theater, history, sports, literature and debates with authors.
For the occasion, the stores of Mola will remain open late.

Until November 25, 2010, the Castello Normanno Svevo of Bari, situated in the Piazza Federico II di Svevia n°4, will organize the Extraordinary Summer Opening of the digs under the gypsotheque.
The Soprintendenza BAP per le Province di Bari, Barletta – Andria - Trani e Foggia and the Direzione del Castello Svevo di Bari open to visitors the subterranean zones situated under the gypsotheque, on Thursdays from 03pm to 06.30pm.
The access to the digs is granted to groups of 8 adults maximum.
The entrance to the Castle, visit to the digs included, costs €2 for people between 25 and 65 years old; free for people under 18 or over 65 and €1 for people between 18-24 years old.

In Margherita di Savoia (province BAT) until September 30, the Museo Storica della Salina (via africa orientale, 50) will observe extended opening hours from 05pm to 11pm at the occasion of the "Città Aperte in Puglia Imperiale" event.
It will be possible to do various thematic activities, such as some didactic laboratories or some showings of films about the salt and its history, and to benefit from guided visits to the salines till the sunset (please book at the Centro Percorsi Cultura-Natura – phone: 0039 0883 657519), to the Humid Zone or to the open-air industrial archaeological course.

Exhibitions > Brindisi > Until September 15 > "Labirinti Urbani" by Carla Molina

Until September 15, 2010, it will be possible to admire one of the best local Summer exhibitions at the San Giacomo Bastion, situated in via Nazario in Brindisi.
This is the exhibition entitled ”Labirinthi Urbani” by Carla Molina, an artist who offers big sculptures, which are both strong and light.
The exhibition is visible from Tuesdays to Saturdays, from 10am to 12am and from 06pm to 10pm and on Sundays from 06pm to 10pm.
On Mondays, it remains closed.

Until September 5, 2010, the Assessorato alle Politiche Giovanili ed Associazionismo del Comune di Corsano and the Pro Loco offers the "Ti racconto...Corsano" event within the old center of Corsano, in the province of Lecce. It is a collection of images, sounds and stories about the Southern Lands.
For the project's creators, Carlo Ciardo et Luciano De Francesco, the event aims at promoting the history, nature and traditions of Corsano and Capo di Leuca.
All the initiatives of the manifestation will take place in the most suggestive places of Corsano in order to combine artistic expression and rediscovery of historical urban contexts.
"Ti racconto... Corsano" is a part of the “Artemare 2010” festival and enters "Città Aperte 2010".

Until September 5, it will be possible to visit the "Santa Maria di Anzano da Casale di Trevico a Comune" documentary exhibition in Anzano di Puglia, in the province of Foggia.
It is one of the different initiatives organized to celebrate the bicentennary of the ascension in Comune di Anzano.
Various documents from the communal historic archives and from the State will be displayed to remind the more important moments of the city, specially selected by the Archivio di Stato di Foggia.
The free exhibition is subdivided into 4 main sections, which are all preceded by a general presentation.

Culture > Corato (BA) > Until 09/05/2010 > The Legend of the Chianca dei Paladini

On the occasion of Estate Coratina 2010 and "Città aperte in Puglia Imperiale", the Archeoclub of Corato, in the province of Bari, offers until next September 5 a cycle of appointments which are dedicated to the discovery of the archaeological zone of the Dolmen Chianca dei Paladini, an imposing mortuary monument which goes back to the Bronze Age.
Various guided visits to the archaeological zone, a ride in mountain bike and an art exhibition will be freely organized.
The archaeological zone remains open from 10am to 12am and from 06pm to 08pm.
Next appointments are : August 28 with the ride in mountain bike to the Dolmen (departure al 04.30pm in Piazza C.Battisti), August 29, September 4 and 5.

Nature > Castellana Grotte > Until 08/31/2010 > SpeleoNight: visits to the caves

Until August 31, 2010, the "SpeleoNight" and the Osservazione dello Spazio e dei Pianeti are coming back to Castellana Grotte, province of Bari.
The famous caves of Castellana will be open at night during August and nocturnal visits will be organized from 09.45pm onwards. Tourists will be able to admire the amazing caves of Castellana, equipped with light helmet and guided by the expert speleologists from the Puglia Grotte group.
Besides, each Tuesday and Friday, from 10pm onwards, for the space enthusiasts, the Sirio Astronomical Observatory (within the Museo Speleologico delle Grotte di Castellana) will be open and it will be possible to admire the main planets of the solar system thanks to a telescope.
The visits to the caves plan two different itineraries : one of about 1 km until the Caverna del Precipizio (50 mn) and the other of about 3 km until the Grotta Bianca (2 hours).
The visit to the caves costs €20.
The entrance to the Sirio Astronomical Observatory costs €5 (adults) or €3 (children between 6 and 14)

Until August 29, 2010, the lighthouse of Minervo Murge, in the province BAT, will be exceptionally opened for the "Città Aperte in Puglia Imperiale 2010" event.
It will be possible to enter the lighthouse on Saturdays and Sundays from 07pm to 10pm and it will also be possible to follow a guided visit until the loggia, where the panorama is amazing.
The entrance costs €1 and is free on reduced price (groups of 5 people maximum).

From August 27 to 29, 2010, Pietramontecorvino, in the province of Foggia, will host the "Terravecchia in Folk" festival, which is organized by the Associazione Culturale Musicale Terravecchia in folk.
This event is characterized by the plurality of its contents : meetings, festivals, concerts, conferences, arts and laboratories.
It is divided into 3 different parts: "ARTinSTRADA"", a festival of street arts, "Folk in Corso", music, singing and dancing laboratories , and "TERREinMOTO", 6 musical appointments, 2 each night.
The guests of the manifestation are: "Totarella" (Calabria), i "Krikka Reggae" (Basilicata), the Municipale Balcanica e i Gattamolesta (Balkan music), Rione Junno with Assane Diope (world music from Senegal to Puglia) andErasmo Petringa in Mediterranea Sound (folk music with mediterranean and arab sounds).

Concerts > Castellana Grotte > August 23-27, 2010 > "Castellana Music Festival"

From August 23 to 27, 2010, the city of Castellana Grotte, in the province of Bari will organize the fist edition of the "Castellana Music Festival", under the artistic direction of "Officina Musicale" and of the "Associazione Culturale Musicale Nino Rota" and in collaboration with the "LM Communication" advertising agency.
The manifestation, which will liven up the southeast of the province of Bari, will combine international music and local talents.
The main stage will be situated in the Largo Leone Magno, in front of the Chiesa Matrice, on the lovely place of the old center.
On August 23, the festival will be inaugurated by the local songwriter Davide Santorsola, who is also a famous pianist as well as the artistic director of the Orchestra Jazz del Politecnico of Bari.

On august 21, 2010 in Erchie, province of Brindisi, the "Stella di Natale" committee, in collaboration with the city of Erchie, will organize the seventh edition of the "Sagra della frisa" within the parco delle Rimembranze.
The manifestation aims at promoting one of the typical products, the "frisa", thanks to tastings, painting exhibitions, theater and music.
A true gastronomical and cultural festival.
A painting exhibition entitled "Il Grano: tra tradizioni e prodotti tipici locali" will also be organized.
The manifestation will be accompanied by music, dancings and the concert of the MALARAZZA.
The story of the "frisa", from its origins up to now, will be presented at the theater.

On August 12, 2010, the Celebartion of "la pasta fatt'a casa e lu porcu paesanu Pri-pri" will take place within the old center of Montesardo, fraction of Alessano, province of Lecce.
Its name, linked to a curious anecdote, comes from an old tradition which consisted in keeping a pig in the place of the village and then in sacrificing it during a celebration.
It will be possible to taste the pork meat according to various recipes as well as handmade pasta and other old dishes, such as the "marenna" (based on fried bread, turnips and chickpeas), "lu ranu passatu", "le pittule" (filled fritters), "la fritta", the "foje reste" (wild chicory) and the "zavirne" (typical wild vegetable).

On August 11, 2010, from 06pm onwards, the XVth edition of the celebration of the panino della nonna will take place within the Area Mercatale of Giovinazzo, in the province of Bari.
