B&B Villa Rodogallo

Villa Rodogallo is magnificent building from the eighteenth century that can be reached by covering a long path bordered by age-old pines. Guests are welcomed in a wide semicircular square with four neoclassical columns surmounted by craters. This is a two-floor building that also has a chapel with mosaic flooring on which the refoundation date (1810) is written. The particular red colour of the two buildings contrasts with the greenness of the surrounding countryside.

Location

This accommodation facility is in Sannicola, in the province of Lecce. The origins of Sannicola date back to the 11th century, when the Basilian monks built two important religious buildings: San Salvatore Abbey and San Mauro Abbey. People coming from the hamlet of Gallipoli, nearly completely destroyed by the Venetians in the15th century, arrived right in this place, that was then called Rodogallo. Around the 18th century, the “casini” (sumptuous villas) were built in the territory of Sannicola. These are big and magnificent noble villas with wide gardens and private chapel. Villa Rodogallo was built first, so it kept the name of the place. Its origins date back to the 16th century.

Rooms

All the rooms have a star vault, period furniture, balcony and / or window and are very sunny. They also have a self contained kitchen and a minibar and fruits is offered during the whole stay.

Eating

Breakfast with fresh fruits produced in the estate all the year round, tarts, doughnut, home-made jams; coffee, milk, tea or other beverages upon request. It is served in the big hall from 09:00am to 11:00am, but it is self service if eaten beyond the pre-established hours.
